Group Fitness Class Descriptions

GROUP FITNESS ETIQUETTE

  • Have mutual respect for the instructor and other participants.
  • If you will not be following Instructors lead, but doing your own workout, stand to far side or back so you do not block the instructor from the view of others.
  • Keep conversations to a minimum.
  • Please arrive 5-15 min prior to beginning of class to prepare your space with equipment set up.
  • Be considerate of other members’ exercise space.
  • Bring your own mat. FAC does not provide mats to members.
  • Children 12-15 must be accompanied by adult, unless Independence Certified; under 12 not allowed.
  • Turn off all devices—cell phones, watches or leave them outside the room.
  • Don’t wear scented lotions and perfumes.
  • Wait until previous class is over before entering; allow time for equipment to be put away.
  • Wear appropriate exercise attire and shoes (unless it’s designated a barefoot class or Yoga)
  • Fans are turned on if there is agreement among the participants in that general space.
  • Clean up space and equipment; put your equipment away at the end of class.

 

AQUA CLASSES:  Work out in the cool refreshing FAC pools!

AQUA B.A.S.I.C.:  Balance, Arthritis, Strength, Interval, Core, based on the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program, this class includes stretching, strengthening, movement and range of motion exercises and is great for pregnancy, beginners, rehabilitating and arthritis.

POOLATES:  All the benefits of Pilates and Aqua Exercise!

BARRE:  A format class inspired by ballet.  It mixes elements of Pilates, dance, Yoga, and functional training. It will strengthen, slim, and stretch your entire body!

BARRE ABOVE:  A totally unique approach to Barre workouts.  Using all 3 planes of motion, the ballet barre, resistance bands, weights and sliding disks, you build strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility.

BARRE/PILATES FUSION:  This is a center floor strength and balance designed sequence which proves that repetition builds results.

BARRE 100’s:  This is a fun-filled hour of total body repetitions leading up to a count of ONE HUNDRED.  Highlighted once a month!

BARRE FUSION:  A workout done at the barre formatted to be heart pumping. This workout is designed to increase your cardiovascular strength while helping you to tone, sculpt, and lengthen your muscles from head to toe.

SOLE TRAINING:  10 min training following Barre Fusion.  An opportunity once a month to learn more about foot health through massage and reflexology.  Learn about the ancient method of healing and give yourself this gift to pamper, relieve and relax.

BARBELL STRENGTH: A full-body workout using barbells, weight plates, and body weight to create compound and isolation exercises that will increase strength and build lean muscle.

BODYCOMBAT®:  This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as Karate, Boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Muay Thai.  You will strike, punch, kick, and kata your way to superior cardio fitness.  Bring a towel because You will sweat!!

BODYJAM™:  Learn the latest dance moves to the hottest music! BODYJAM breaks down a dance routine, keeping you moving as we practice the moves and string them together.                                                                                   

 Level:  All                    30-55 min

BODYPUMP®:  The Original Barbell class that builds strength, tones your body, and pushes you to the limit every time.  It will challenge all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like Squats, Presses, Lifts and Curls.                               

 Level:  All                   45-60 min

CYCLING: A form of cardiovascular exercise that mimics road cycling with athletic indoor cycling using drills, climbs and endurance riding.

CYCLEFIT:  Cycling class with strength exercises included.

FRIDAY FULL PSYCLE:  Spend happy hour with us! A mind-blowing ride and time to spend with other dedicated workout members to end your work week on an upbeat note!

FLEX-ABILITY + CORE:  Treat yourself to a non-impact workout that will increase your ability to stretch, as well as strengthen your core muscles.  Both are an important component of functionality and injury prevention.  A class that will be beneficial in everything you do in your daily life.

(Interval Intensity Training) formats.

GRIT™:  a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength, cardiovascular fitness and build lean muscle.  It takes cutting-edge HIIT and combines to motivate you to go harder to get fit, fast.  Three formats:  Strength, Cardio and Athletic.                                                                                     

 Level:  All                    30 min

HIIT! (High Intensity Interval Training) A class consisting of short bursts of intense exercises, including plyometrics and core, alternated with brief active recovery periods. Modifications will be provided.  

It is a total body cardiovascular fitness and strength conditioning workout.

High Fitness: HIGH Fitness is a ZERO equipment, full body workout that has been shown to improve overall endurance, stamina, strength, and cardiovascular health. More importantly, it yields extremely important mental health benefits. Beyond the workout, HIGH Fitness brings fun, fabulous music, and a community like no other – connection, support, and inclusion reap their own benefits on both the mind and body!

MOVEMENT & STRENGTH (M&S):  A cardio & strength workout for the Young at Heart!  Music and Fun designed to keep you moving!                                                                                     

 Level:  All                           50-60 min

MOVE N GROOVE:  This energizing dance fitness class is 45 minutes of pure joy filled with fun, effective and easy to follow choreography. Get ready to burn calories and reduce stress while moving to a blend of music styles and rhythms to include pop, Latin, line dance, oldies and more. This cardio class is good for the heart, improving cardiovascular health as well as strength, mobility, and balance.

PILATES:   This class focuses on muscle condition, coordination, and flexibility. In traditional Pilates format, movement is approached through proper breath and form to improve alignments and strengthen the core. This is a low impact class appropriate for beginners and modifications will be given for all levels. (BYO Mat and bands)

RPM™: This group indoor cycling workout is fun, low impact and you can burn through the calories! It is a great way to build up your sense of personal achievement.  Draw on the group’s energy and find your rhythm in the music!

SOULfusion:  A creative blend of yoga-inspired flows, short cardio bursts, balance sequences and bodyweight and weighted strength training exercises all set to crazy fun music.

SILVER CHALLENGE

This class is designed for active seniors. We start on our feet for 30 minutes with functional strength training, squats, lunges, and balance exercises – we then move to the floor for core and flexibility. Modifications are offered.       

 Level: Intermediate       45min

SILVER FITNESS

This class is designed specifically for the needs of seniors. This class combines functional training to keep you at your best. This class includes safe & effective weight training exercises, flexibility, core strength, balance & endurance. All levels & abilities are welcome. Modifications are offered. 

 Level: All                     45-60 min

SilverSneakers Classic:  Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated or standing support.                        

Level:  All                   45-60 min

STEP:  The cardio workout with muscle—high intensity, low impact! STEP training involves stepping up and down on an adjustable platform that gets your heart pumping! This class is a good all-around cardiovascular, fat burning workout.  Fun choreography!              

Level:  All                         30-60 min

Beg Step:  A beginning level of Step that is less intense and has fewer complex combos.  Build up your confidence and expertise before entering the STEP class (listed above).                                      

Level:  Beginner          30 min

STEP & STRENGTH:  Great combination of Step and strengthening exercises.  Get your 5 basic elements of fitness:  aerobic, strength, core, balance, and flexibility and stretching in 1 hour!

SPRINT™:  Les Mills Indoor Cycling Program.  HIIT on a bike.  30 min of excitement!

TRX FULL BODY WORKOUT:  Using your own body weight and TRX equipment, you will work upper body, legs, and core like you have never worked before while challenging your balance in multiple planes.                                                               

 Level:  All                    45 min

YOGA:  A mind-body workout that increases your strength and flexibility and decreases your stress.  See “Yoga at FAC” for description of each type of Yoga class.

ZUMBA®:  Zumba combines high energy & motivating music with unique moves & combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries.  It’s a blend of cumbia, salsa, samba, merengue, and Latin dances designed to be fun & easy to do.
