Dezirea Acker

WSI/Lifeguard

My name is Dezirea Acker, but my friends call me Dezi. I was born and raised on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Growing up in the water my entire life, I consider it my second home. I participated in ocean swims, surfing, and paddling sports. I was also a 4 year varsity swimmer and water polo player in high school, as well a year round swimmer for 5 years. During the summers I would visit my Dad in Galveston, TX and participate in swim teams and surf camps. I moved to this Land-locked state of AZ to attend Northern Arizona University as an Environmental Studies student and a minor in Parks and Recreation. I am currently a senior at NAU. I have been a certified Water safety instructor and Lifeguard for the past 4 years, and have been teaching lessons and guarding just as long. I have taught people of all ages, but mostly love to teach the little ones.
